At a glance

Shipped as v0.7.0. Short notes from the in-game changelog:

  • The guardian's altar, the shrine and the portal always show on the big map again. Plus: map markers, a north-up minimap and the map without pausing by holding Tab.
  • Runs get lost far less: fewer crashes on mobile, «Keep playing without image» if the image is lost, and the run saves itself even if the connection fails at the end.
  • Every move has its sheet (damage, cooldown, range and what boosts it), there's a glossary, and you can check your build while picking an upgrade (Tab).
  • Meowth raises his prices if you buy a lot from him without opening Poké Balls, and paid Poké Balls let you pick from 3 items.
  • Controls: rebound keys now save, adjustable controller dead zone, auto Ultimate toggled with the Y key, and WASD works again in Firefox.
  • Fixed bosses whose HP wouldn't go down, shinies that vanished when you caught more than 3 in a run, and Pokémon stuck showing as Poké Balls.
  • In Settings → Account you can change your name, start over or delete your account, and you can now sign up with a name in any language.
  • A Lab guide the first time you enter, tips during your first three runs, and a more compact interface on mobile.

Official patch notes

Patch #7 is here! Since Patch #6 you have sent us over 500 reports and we have read every one. This patch, together with the four small updates of recent days, comes almost entirely from them. The map shows you the way again, far fewer runs get lost and every move has its own card with numbers. On top of that, Meowth changes, there are controls your way, an account you can manage yourself and a ton of fixes.

The map shows you the way again

  • The guardian's altar, the shrine and the portal are always shown on the big map again, even if you haven't seen them yet. No more wandering around without finding the guardian until time runs out.
  • Map markers: tap or click the big map to place up to 3 markers, or tap an icon (an altar, a Poké Ball, Meowth...) to follow it. The marker shows on the minimap and on screen, with the distance, and removes itself when you arrive.
  • Minimap with north up (Settings → Interface): the idea you asked for the most. With north up, it is your Pokémon's arrow that turns.
  • Hold Tab to see the big map without pausing the run. On mobile, tap the minimap to open it.
  • The minimap is a bit bigger and your position is easier to see, with a pulsing ring.
  • The portal no longer appears buried or on top of other objects, and the map no longer changes orientation when you evolve.

Your runs, safe

  • Far fewer crashes on mobile, especially in long Survival runs and when crossing the portal. The game kept the graphics of every Pokémon you had seen in memory; now it releases the ones that are no longer on screen.
  • If the graphics are lost, you can "Continue without graphics" with the HUD and the minimap, as before. And if you reload, the game no longer gets stuck loading forever.
  • The Android back gesture pauses the run instead of kicking you out of the game.
  • If the game closes, when you come back a card with everything that was saved from that run is waiting for you. Captures and shinies are saved instantly, not a few seconds later.
  • If the connection fails at the end, the run retries on its own and you get a "Retry" button. It stays on your device until it goes through, even if you close the game.
  • Runs recovered after a crash are no longer rejected by mistake, and the ones that were rejected that way are now saved.

Moves, builds and glossary

  • A card for every move: the real damage with your stats, cooldown, range, the statuses it causes, how it grows from level 1 to 8 and which items and vitamins improve it (with the ones you already carry highlighted). Hover or hold to see it, and tap it to open it in full.
  • "See all its moves" now shows the data for all of them, not just the first four. It has filters (type, physical or special, shape) and sorting (damage, cooldown, range or level). Exclusive and evolution moves are marked, and Eevee's branches are listed separately.
  • "View my team" (Tab): check your moves, items, vitamins and stats while you choose an upgrade, an item or a blessing, without closing the choice.
  • Glossary of stats, statuses, reactions and attack shapes, in the Pokédex and in the pause menu.
  • The level-up screen tells you what changes (for example, "Damage per hit 24.8 → 33.5"). Critical warns you when you go past 100%, so you can swap that item for another one.
  • The run summary shows the damage of each move. When you weaken an Alpha, the notice tells you what support it gives before you capture it.

Meowth and Poké Balls

  • Paid Poké Balls now let you choose 1 of 3 items (keys 1-3). If none convinces you, you can sell it.
  • Meowth raises his prices if you buy a lot from him without opening Poké Balls. Skipping Poké Balls made his shop almost free, and that wasn't fair to people who play normally. If you play normally you won't notice: your first purchases carry no surcharge and the margin grows with every Poké Ball you open.
  • Refreshing Meowth's stock costs more and more throughout the whole run, not just in each zone.
  • In long runs, Poké Balls and Meowth no longer give you the same item all the time.

Controls your way

  • Remapped keys are now saved: before, they went back to the defaults when you reloaded the page. You can also assign actions to the mouse buttons (middle, right and side buttons).
  • Adjustable gamepad dead zone (Settings → Controls): no more character or camera moving on their own.
  • Automatic Ultimate with the Y key.
  • Lock target goes to bosses and Alphas first, and if you press again, it moves to the next one.
  • Movement no longer gets stuck, neither with the keyboard after an upgrade nor with the mobile joystick.
  • Space no longer picks an upgrade while you jump to dodge.
  • WASD works again in Firefox: it used to open the browser's search bar.
  • Full screen from the pause menu and in-game on touch, and you can no longer zoom by accident.

More comfortable, on mobile too

  • Smaller capture and Alpha notices that no longer cover your level.
  • New options in Settings → Interface: shrink the big notices to one line, hide the minimap and lower the opacity of the boss bars.
  • The screen is no longer cut off on phones with a notch, and the profile and avatars scroll properly.
  • Choose between touch controls and keyboard and mouse in Settings → Controls.
  • Graphics that fail to load retry on their own: goodbye to Pokémon, items and trees that stayed as Poké Balls or blank. If something is missing, there is a notice and a "Reload graphics" button in Settings → Graphics.
  • More FPS: candies and coins on the ground merge when there are many (and you can set pickup effects to "Simple"), mobile no longer gets stuck at 45 FPS on 90 Hz screens and full screen no longer lowers FPS.
  • The camera no longer jumps on slopes, and if you get stuck between rocks or trees, the game gets you out.
  • Attack sound no longer cuts out when there are many at once, and it comes back after a phone call on mobile.

Fixes from your reports

  • Bosses whose health wouldn't go down: their supports healed them faster than you could damage them, in very long runs small hits were lost and "infinityM" showed up.
  • Shinies that disappeared: only the first 3 of each run were saved. Now up to 6 are saved, and we have given them back to those who let us know.
  • If a shiny is waiting for you, the portal appears far away and, to leave without capturing it, you have to confirm.
  • Meteor and Heavenly Impact attacks target the nearest boss first.
  • The Stardust from achievements and tasks that wasn't adding up or went down, and the tasks that couldn't be claimed.
  • The cooldown bar of Metronome, Copycat, Sketch and Transform now moves. Vitamins no longer stay at level 1, and Training no longer appears ahead of time.
  • Training no longer stays at zero in long runs.
  • Guest accounts no longer lose their progress when you press "Exit".
  • The Pokémon you were capturing no longer disappears if you evolve nearby, and choosing the Desert no longer drops you in the Forest.
  • Attack effects no longer carry over to the next run, and "Save to account" no longer erases what you typed.
  • Sound comes back on its own in Safari, and the shop, the summary and the forget-moves window look right on mobile.

Your account

  • In Settings → Account you can change your name (once every 30 days), start from scratch or delete your account.
  • You can now sign up with a name in any language: before, a name in Chinese, Japanese or Korean wouldn't let you create the account. While you type, it tells you whether the name is free.
  • When creating the account you can keep your guest run.
  • For your privacy, the name can no longer be a phone number or an email: it shows on the leaderboard. If yours looks like one, you can change it right now, no waiting.
  • You can use your captured shinies as an avatar, and the League has a "Shiny" filter.
  • Clans also count Survival runs, and the leader can rename the clan.

For newcomers

  • Lab guide the first time you enter: Stardust, upgrades, items, filters and the Archive, step by step. There is also a guide for the Research Notebook and the main screen.
  • Tips during your first three runs: what Poké Balls are, altars, Meowth, the guardian's altar, Alphas and the portal. You can turn them off in Settings.
  • Padlocks tell you how each thing is unlocked.
  • In the League you see which difficulties you have won with each Pokémon.

Anti-cheat

  • A tougher stance on edited gold and zones cleared without dealing damage.
  • Fewer honest runs sent for review, especially those played on a bad connection.

If you had the game open, reload the page to get Patch #7. Something odd? Tell us with "Report": we read them all. Survival will be redone for Season 2.
